Abrasive Waterjet Cutting
Abrasive cutting uses a fine garnet material that is pulled through the machine’s cutting head where it meets with high pressure water (55 – 100k psi). The combination of the two give the ability to pierce and cut through virtually any material up to 7” thick.
Non-Abrasive Waterjet Cutting
Non-abrasive or water only cutting is extremely effective for parts processed from soft or thin materials. The advantage to cutting with water only is that parts can be nested tighter due to the thinner kerf width from not adding abrasive to the cut.
Dynamic Waterjet Cutting
Applied Waterjet uses a 5 axis dynamic cutting head to produce parts faster and with taper free edges. Typical waterjet cutting will leave your parts with a taper. Our Dynamic cutting will give you the square edge you need.
Applied Waterjet offers UltraPiercing as a solution for cutting all brittle and laminated materials such as carbon fiber, G10, glass, and many others. These materials tend to delaminate or crack when using standard cutting procedures. The reason behind this unwanted result is a millisecond lag between the HP water hitting the material before the garnet has a chance to catch up with it. With UltraPierce the garnet and HP water will meet the material at the same time providing a clean pierce.
